REF: The Blood Covenant by E.W. Kenyon

David Livingstone was born 19 Mar 1813
He gave his heart to the LORD age 20 …Studied to be a missionary
Age 27 he went to Africa in 1840
His aim: To explore the continent and to end the slave trade.
He was a man of God a public speaker and a national hero in his own lifetime.
1864 he returned to Africa.
His aim: To explore central Africa and to discover the source of the Nile River.
7 years passed and the world slowly lost contact with Livingstone.
But this increased the public enthusiasm. By 1871 the public was in an up roar …”Find Livingstone!”

In comes George Bennett, publisher of the New York Herald, This is a BIG story…money to be made!
He commissioned newspaper reporter Henry Stanley to find Livingstone.
Stanley was a competent man in the field, he had fought in the Civil War
But on reaching Africa with 200 men and equipment, he virtually hit a brick wall.
Every time he tried to go inland, savage tribes attacked him!
His guide asked him, “Why don’t you make a strong covenant with a powerful chief here on the coast?”
Stanley asked what use would that be?
His guide answered, “EVERYTHING the Chief owns is at your disposal if you need it!
Stanley was delighted with the idea…organize it.
After several days of negotiation they came to the covenant ceremony.

First the old Chief wanted to get to know Stanley and his motives.
Then there was the exchanging of gifts.
The old Chief wanted Stanley’s new white goats. Wouldn’t settle for anything less
Stanley stressed he was in poor health and goats milk was all he could keep down.
But he handed over the goats.
The old Chief gave Stanley his copper-wound spear.
Stanley didn’t think much of the spear initially!  Later he realized its significance.

Then there was a substitute man for each who represented Stanley and the old Chief.
There was cutting of their wrist, the blood mixed with wine, which was drunk by each man.
Their wrist’s rubbed together making them BLOOD Brothers,
And the cuts were permanently stained with gunpowder so ALL would know they were Covenant men.
Then they planted trees, trees that were known for long life.
Then the old Chief announced, “Come buy and sell with Stanley, for he is our Blood brother!”
Only hours before Stanley’s men had to stand guard over their goods.
Now they could leave the goods open in the street with out fear of theft.
Because anyone who steals from a Blood Brother would be put to death!

Stanley later found that wherever he went in Africa with that spear, every body bowed to him and submitted to him.

Can you see the parallels with your covenant with Jesus Christ

Christ takes ‘Your’ sin, sickness, diseases and loneliness etc, and then took it upon himself on the cross.
He was separated from his father; he died and went to hell. That was the punishment we all deserved!

In exchange

For your sin, sickness and disease…

1Peter 2:24 “He Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that dying to sins, we might live to righteousness; by whose stripes you were healed.” There clearly you can see the exchange, He took our sin and sickness, He gave us His righteousness and healed.

For your loneliness….
John 14:20 “At that day you shall know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.” Through the Blood of Jesus Christ, You are eternally made one with your Father in heaven.

For your just punishment in hell…

Remember the parable of the wedding feast… Matthew 22:12-13 “And he said to him, Friend, how did you come in here without having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. 13 Then the king said to the servants, Bind him hand and foot and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Those NOT Clocked in the righteousness of Jesus Christ are cast out of the presence of God forever.

Your Authority

Act 19:13-15 Remember the seven sons of Sceva. They tried to piggyback the authority of the name of Jesus by saying…
“We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preaches…But …the evil spirit said, Jesus I know, and I comprehend Paul, but who are you?
In the spirit realm demons see you as a soldier of the Lord. Clocked in the righteousness of Jesus Christ. God also sees you that way, with His authority as HIS son!

Renewing the covenant.

Luke 22:19 “And He took bread and gave thanks, and He broke it and gave it to them, saying, This is My body which is given for you, this do in remembrance of Me.”

1Corinthians 11:25 “In the same way He took the cup also, after supping, saying, "This cup is the New Covenant in My blood; as often as you drink it, do this in remembrance of Me."”

John 6:53 “Then Jesus says to them, Truly, truly, I say to you, Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man, and drink His blood, you do not have life in yourselves.”

Conclusion
Communion and the elements are sacred and we should not partake of them lightly.

GBY yours Adrian

P.S….. I plan to add more to this at a later date.
